Company Safety Plan

(Revised October 2025)


1. Purpose

The purpose of this Safety Plan is to establish clear procedures, expectations, and responsibilities for all Protecting HIS Security Services (PHSS) employees to ensure the health, safety, and security of our personnel, clients, and the communities we serve. PHSS is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and faith-based work environment built on professionalism, accountability, and integrity.


2. Scope

This plan applies to all PHSS employees, contractors, and supervisors operating within all service areas, including client facilities, mobile patrol routes, and company offices in North Carolina.


3. Company Safety Mission Statement

At Protecting HIS Security Services, our mission is to protect people and property with excellence, integrity, and faith-led service. We are committed to ensuring that every team member returns home safely at the end of each shift. Safety is everyone’s responsibility — it starts with awareness, training, and teamwork.


4. Safety Goals

  • Zero workplace injuries or fatalities.
     
  • Zero preventable vehicle accidents.
     
  • 100% compliance with safety and PPE standards.
     
  • 100% employee participation in safety training programs.
     
  • Promote a culture of “See Something, Say Something, Do Something.”
     

5. Roles & Responsibilities

Management

  • Provide and maintain safe equipment, vehicles, and worksites.
     
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
     
  • Enforce safety standards and disciplinary actions when necessary.
     
  • Ensure all personnel receive initial and ongoing safety training.
     

Supervisors

  • Lead by example with safety-first behavior.
     
  • Conduct pre-shift safety briefings.
     
  • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately.
     
  • Ensure guards follow post orders and wear appropriate uniforms/PPE.
     

Security Officers

  • Maintain situational awareness at all times.
     
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents to supervisors.
     
  • Use all issued safety equipment properly.
     
  • Never perform duties beyond your training or authorization.
     
  • Follow all company vehicle, weapon, and equipment policies.
     

      6. Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment

* Hazard Type: Physical       

* Examples: Slips, falls, moving vehicles, weather exposure            

* Preventive Measures: Wear proper footwear, use caution during patrols, stay hydrated


* Hazard Type: Environmental        

* Examples: Poor lighting, unsafe terrain, extreme temperatures           

* Preventive Measures: Use flashlights, reflective gear, schedule regular breaks


* Hazard Type: Violence/Conflict       

* Examples: Aggressive persons, criminal activity, armed incidents           

* Preventive Measures: De-escalation training, maintain distance, call law enforcement


* Hazard Type: Health         

* Examples: Fatigue, stress, exposure to illness           

* Preventive Measures: Follow rest policies, utilize EAP resources, report symptoms


* Hazard Type: Vehicle Operation        

* Examples: Accidents during patrol or transport           

* Preventive Measures: Follow defensive driving standards, no texting or speeding

   

7. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

All officers and field staff must wear:

  • Approved PHSS uniform and identification badge
     
  • Bullet-resistant vest (when assigned)
     
  • High-visibility vest for traffic or night duties
     
  • Flashlight and radio
     
  • Duty belt with issued safety equipment
     
  • Weather-appropriate clothing (rain gear, gloves, etc.)
     

8. Emergency Procedures

Medical Emergencies

  • Call 911 immediately.
     
  • Notify supervisor and client site contact.
     
  • Render first aid/CPR if trained and safe to do so.
     
  • Complete an Incident Report within 24 hours.
     

Fire Emergencies

  • Activate nearest alarm, evacuate to designated area.
     
  • Do not re-enter until cleared by authorities.
     
  • Notify PHSS management immediately.
     

Active Threat / Violence

  • Follow “Run, Hide, Fight” protocol.
     
  • Notify law enforcement and supervisor.
     
  • Remain calm and provide detailed descriptions of suspect(s).
     
  • Document all details post-incident.
     

Vehicle Accidents

  • Stop vehicle and ensure safety of all involved.
     
  • Call 911 and PHSS Supervisor.
     
  • Take photos, exchange information, and file a report within 24 hours.
     

9. Communication & Reporting

  • Use radio or company-issued phone for on-site communication.
     
  • All incidents, near misses, or safety concerns must be reported using a PHSS Incident Report Form within 24 hours.
     
  • Supervisors will review reports for trends and corrective actions.
     

10. Training & Development

All PHSS employees must complete:

  • New Hire Orientation & Safety Briefing
     
  • Annual Safety Refresher Training
     
  • Defensive Driving Course (for vehicle operators)
     
  • De-escalation and Use-of-Force Training
     
  • Fire and Emergency Response Drills
     
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (as assigned)
     

11. Substance-Free Workplace

PHSS maintains a strict drug and alcohol-free policy. Employees suspected of being under the influence while on duty will be removed immediately and may face termination.


12. Mental Health and Wellness

Recognizing the demands of security work, PHSS provides access to Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), local mental health resources, and chaplain services for stress management, trauma support, and emotional well-being.

13. Faith & Integrity Commitment

We believe that safety is not only a regulation — it’s a moral responsibility. As a Christian-based company, 

PHSS operates by biblical principles of stewardship, honor, and care for others.

14. Safety Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct monthly safety audits and random site inspections.
     
  • Review safety incidents quarterly to identify training needs.
     
  • Encourage employee feedback for improvement.
     
  • Recognize and reward employees who demonstrate exceptional safety awareness.
     

15. Acknowledgment

All employees must sign a Safety Commitment Form confirming they have read, understood, and agree to comply with all PHSS safety policies and procedures.
